New Mexico Film Office director Nick Maniatis announced on Tuesday that AMC has renewed the Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul starring Bob Odenkirk and that it will again will be filmed in Albuquerque. Officials say the drama series, produced by Sony Pictures Television, will employ at least 75 to 90 New Mexico crew members. Better Call Saul follows Jimmy McGill, played by Odenkirk, who later changes his name to Saul Goodman and becomes an attorney for crime kings in the hit show Breaking Bad, which was broadcast from 2008 to 2103. Odenkirk played the lawyer of Bryan Cranston's character, the drug dealer Walter White, in the AMC series Breaking Bad, which was also filmed in Albuquerque. – AP
Miss USA pageant gets new hosts and channel
Sunday’s Miss USA pageant will now be hosted by Todd Newton and former Miss Wisconsin USA Alex Wehrley. The pageant faced major disruption that saw a mass exodus of on-air talent after co-owner Donald Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric against Mexican immigrants to the United States. The remarks were made as he kicked off his presidential bid in June. NBC, Trump’s broadcasting partner in the Miss USA pageant, cited his comments when it cut business ties with him and dropped its pageant telecast. The channel Reelz acquired the rights last week, with its chief executive Stan Hubbard saying that while he disagreed with Trump’s comments, he admired the pageant. – AP
Rosie Perez leaves The View
Rosie Perez has quit The View and plans to return to acting. The talk show's executive producer Bill Wolff lauded Perez for handling her View host duties while performing in Larry David's Broadway play, Fish in the Dark. The talk show's team plans to have a "proper send-off" for Perez in a few weeks, Wolff said, which is when its current season wraps. Perez's departure leaves Whoopi Goldberg and relative newcomers Raven-Symoné and Nicolle Wallace. The show's tally of ex-hosts includes Rosie O'Donnell, Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd. Series creator Barbara Walters retired as host last year. – AP

What drives subscription retailing?
Once the domain of newspaper home deliveries, subscription model retailing has combined with e-commerce to permeate myriad products and services.
The concept has grown tremendously around the world and is forecast to thrive further, according to UnivDatos Market Insights’ report on recent and predicted trends in the sector.
The global subscription e-commerce market was valued at $13.2 billion (Dh48.5bn) in 2018. It is forecast to touch $478.2bn in 2025, and include the entertainment, fitness, food, cosmetics, baby care and fashion sectors.
The report says subscription-based services currently constitute “a small trend within e-commerce”. The US hosts almost 70 per cent of recurring plan firms, including leaders Dollar Shave Club, Hello Fresh and Netflix. Walmart and Sephora are among longer established retailers entering the space.
UnivDatos cites younger and affluent urbanites as prime subscription targets, with women currently the largest share of end-users.
That’s expected to remain unchanged until 2025, when women will represent a $246.6bn market share, owing to increasing numbers of start-ups targeting women.
Personal care and beauty occupy the largest chunk of the worldwide subscription e-commerce market, with changing lifestyles, work schedules, customisation and convenience among the chief future drivers.
Dr Afridi's warning signs of digital addiction
Spending an excessive amount of time on the phone.
Neglecting personal, social, or academic responsibilities.
Losing interest in other activities or hobbies that were once enjoyed.
Having withdrawal symptoms like feeling anxious, restless, or upset when the technology is not available.
Experiencing sleep disturbances or changes in sleep patterns.
What are the guidelines?
Under 18 months: Avoid screen time altogether, except for video chatting with family.
Aged 18-24 months: If screens are introduced, it should be high-quality content watched with a caregiver to help the child understand what they are seeing.
Aged 2-5 years: Limit to one-hour per day of high-quality programming, with co-viewing whenever possible.
Aged 6-12 years: Set consistent limits on screen time to ensure it does not interfere with sleep, physical activity, or social interactions.
Teenagers: Encourage a balanced approach – screens should not replace sleep, exercise, or face-to-face socialisation.
