Kids can dive into a new hobby with professional scuba divers teaching them the ropes underwater at Atlantis The Palm.
Dive Atlantis and Professional Association of Diving Instructors (Padi) has introduced three new dive programmes for youngsters from eight to 12 years of age, allowing them to get closer to the 65,000 marine animals at Atlantis, while learning about conservation and habitat preservation.
The Padi Bubblemaker course (Dh490) is a fun two-hour programme for children to learn the skills of using scuba gear to breathe underwater and swim around the shallow end safely, all while blowing bubbles along the way.
The Padi Seal Team certified programme (Dh1,450) will have young scuba divers completing ‘AquaMissions’ in an hour, surrounded by sharks and rays. They will learn to dive with flashlights, take pictures underwater and float like astronauts.
And finally, the Padi Scuba Diving programme (Dh1,950) for 10-year-old children is designed to certify them to dive up to 12 metres anywhere in the world, accompanied by an instructor.
The hotel has a number of adult courses, such as the Atlantis Diver Explorer (Dh800), Dolphin Scuba Dive (Dh1,450) and Ultimate Snorkel programme (Dh225), as well.

Muslim Council of Elders condemns terrorism on religious sites
The Muslim Council of Elders has strongly condemned the criminal attacks on religious sites in Britain.
It firmly rejected “acts of terrorism, which constitute a flagrant violation of the sanctity of houses of worship”.
“Attacking places of worship is a form of terrorism and extremism that threatens peace and stability within societies,” it said.
The council also warned against the rise of hate speech, racism, extremism and Islamophobia. It urged the international community to join efforts to promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
