November streaming: what to watch on Netflix, Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime this month

With a new month comes plenty of new TV shows and movies to stream at home. As well as offerings from Netflix and Amazon Prime, which are both available in the UAE, this November we have a new streaming service in the shape of Apple TV+.

With releases from Jennifer Aniston, Robert Pattinson and Diego Maradona, and Bollywood series, anime shows and nature documentaries on offer, there is something to appeal to everyone this month.

'Dickinson'

Where and when: Friday, November 1 on Apple TV+

Starring: Hailee Steinfeld, Toby Huss, Jane Krakowski

"Dickinson," a darkly comedic coming-of-age story, explores the constraints of society, gender and family through the lens of rebellious young poet, Emily Dickinson.

'The Elephant Queen' 

Where and when: Friday, November 1 on Apple TV+

Starring: Chiwetel Ejiofor

This acclaimed documentary film, narrated by Chiwetel Ejiofor, is a cinematic love letter to a species on the verge of extinction, follows a majestic matriarch elephant and her herd on an epic journey of life, loss and homecoming.

'For All Mankind'

Where and when: Friday, November 1 on Apple TV+

Starring: Chris Bauer, Noah Harpster, Meghan Leathers

A new series from Ronald D. Moore, imagines what would have happened if the global space race never ended and the space program remained the cultural centrepiece of America’s hopes and dreams.

'Ghostwriter' 

Where and when: Friday, November 1 on Apple TV+

Starring: Isaac Arellanes, Hannah Levinson, Jay Santiago

A reinvention of the beloved original series, follows four kids who are brought together by a mysterious ghost in a neighbourhood bookstore, and must team up to release fictional characters from works of literature.

'Helpsters'

Where and when: Friday, November 1 on Apple TV+

Starring:  Jennifer Barnhart, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Ingrid Hansen

A new children's series from the makers of Sesame Street, features Cody and a team of vibrant monsters who love to help solve problems. It all starts with a plan.

'The King'

Where and when: Friday, November 1 on Netflix

Starring: Robert Pattinson, Timothee Chalamet, Lily-Rose Depp

Set in 15th-century England, Prince Hal transforms from wayward wastrel to powerful king after he reluctantly inherits the throne and its many conflicts. The movie has been adapted from several of William Shakespeare's plays, Henry IV, Parts 1 & 2 and Henry V. 

'Jack Ryan'

Where and when: Friday, November 1 on Amazon Prime

Starring: John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, John Hoogenakker

Season two of the CIA sees Jack Ryan et al in jet between Moscow to Caracas to London. The show has already been renewed for season three.

'The Morning Show'

Where and when: Friday, November 1 on Apple TV+

Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell

The Morning Show explores the world of morning news and the ego, ambition and the misguided search for power behind the people who help America wake up in the morning.

'See'

Where and when: Friday, November 1 on Apple TV+

Starring: Jason Momoa, Alfre Woodard

See is set 600 years in the future after a virus has decimated humankind and rendered the remaining population blind. When all humanity has lost the sense of sight, humans must adapt and find new ways to survive.

'Snoopy in Space'

Where and when: Friday, November 1 on Apple TV+

Starring:  Nicole Byer, Christian Dal Dosso, Holly Gorski

A new original from Peanuts Worldwide and DHX Media, takes viewers on a journey with Snoopy as he follows his dreams to become an astronaut. Together, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts crew take command of the International Space Station and explore the moon and beyond.

'Seth Meyers: Lobby Baby'

Where and when: Tuesday, November 5 on Netflix

Starring: Seth Meyers

In his Netflix comedy-special debut, talk show host Seth Meyers touches upon fatherhood, politics and why you should never take your girlfriend to Paris for her birthday.

'Little Things'

Where and when: Saturday, November 9 on Netflix

Starring: Dhruv Sehgal, Mithila Palkar, Aman Bhagat

In the third series of the Bollywood hit series, Kavya and Dhruv’s relationship goes from live-in to long-distance and their respective journeys of self-discovery begin to impact their life as a couple.

'Maradona in Mexico'

Where and when: Wednesday, November 13 on Netflix

A documentary about Diego Maradona, arguably soccer's greatest player. In the feature show, Maradona goes to Culiacan, the heart of the Sinaloa Cartel, to save the local team, and maybe himself, too.

'The Crown' 

Where and when: Sunday, November 17 on Netflix

Starring: Tobias Menzies, Olivia Colman, Helena Bonham Carter 
Series three of the popular drama is here, and Clare Foy has been replaced with Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II. While England in the swinging sixties confronts an economic downturn and fierce nationalism, the royals are scrutinised as aristocratic freeloaders.

'Klaus'

Where and when: Friday, November 15 on Netflix

Starring: Rashida Jones, Joan Cusack, J.K. Simmons

In this feel-good festive animation, a young postman and a reclusive toymaker become unlikely friends in Klaus. The movie has been made by the co-creator of Despicable Me.

'The Irishman'

Where and when: Wednesday, November 23 on Netflix

Starring:  Jesse Plemons, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino

Martin Scorsese's The Irishman is an "epic saga" of organised crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th century.
