Michael Jordan has donated $2 million from his fee for Netflix series The Last Dance to charity.
Ahead of Thanksgiving, the basketball hero donated to the non-profit Feeding America, a gesture the charity described as "an incredible gift".
"In these challenging times and in a year of unimaginable difficulty due to Covid-19, it's more important than ever to pause and give thanks," Jordan says.
"I am proud to be donating additional proceeds from The Last Dance to Feeding America and its member food banks in the Carolinas in Chicago to help feed America's hungry."
This is not the first generous charitable gesture Jordan has made this year. Before the NBA season restarted, Jordan and the Jordan Brand announced that they would be making a 10-year, $100m donation that will be used to help ensure "racial equality, social justice and greater access to education".
The Last Dance released in April and was widely lauded by fans. The docu-series follows Jordan's well-documented basketball career, and the Chicago Bulls team, showing never-before aired footage from the 1997–98 Bulls season, Jordan's final with the team.
