Like all things in 2020, the Primetime Emmy Awards were a little different this year. But there was still an "after-party".

Unlike the usual glitzy affair of years gone by, 2020’s after party, like the awards themselves, happened over Zoom, and host Jimmy Kimmel sent fans wild by signing off the ceremony with the log in details for the event.

"To all the winners tonight and all the nominees, I'll see you guys at the sad Zoom after-party," Kimmel said. "Meeting ID: 459 956 7155. Stay safe."

Naturally, viewers flocked to their computers in their droves to try to get in on the event, leaving the Zoom meeting room – which had a capacity of only 100 – full within seconds.

While some people did manage to make it into the Zoom room, and post pictures on social media to prove it, many claimed the ID number became invalid shortly after Kiimmel read it out.

“#Emmys After Party Zoom code went invalid, we just got Kimmel'd @jimmykimmel”, one user wrote.

Seeing as most of the A-list stars "attended" this year's Emmys from the comfort of their own homes, it's likely that many were throwing their own, socially distanced after-parties to celebrate their wins.

Sunday night's event was the first major entertainment awards ceremony to be conducted during the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 130 cameras were shipped out to nominees across 10 countries. Kimmel, who hosted from an empty Los Angeles theatre, said days before the event that he was bracing himself for a “beautiful disaster”.

Considering how much depended on streaming technology, so much could have gone wrong.

Yet, for the most part, things worked out well. And there was a decent amount of humour doled out at the ceremony for good measure.

Labour dispute

The insured employee may still file an ILOE claim even if a labour dispute is ongoing post termination, but the insurer may suspend or reject payment, until the courts resolve the dispute, especially if the reason for termination is contested. The outcome of the labour court proceedings can directly affect eligibility.
