Images from one of this year's most anticipated Ramadan dramas have been released.
Egyptian star Mohamed Ramadan uploaded a snapshot from the Cairo set of his upcoming series Mousa.
With the plot details yet to be revealed, one of the images indicates the series could be another one of his trademark thrillers, with the pensive-looking actor clad in tattered garb and brandishing a rifle.
The show follows last year's El Prince, another Ramadan drama that proved a hit during the holy month.
And judging by the pedigree of talent surrounding him, Mousa could well be another blockbuster offering. For one thing, it is produced by Egyptian company Synergy Art Production, which was behind one of last year's most-viewed series, the military thriller Al Ikhtiyar and 2019's lavish drama Hekayti.
With a supporting cast that includes Somaya El Khashab, Abeer Sabry and Ryad El Khouly, directing all 30 episodes of Mousa is Mohamed Salama, who was behind the critically acclaimed 2018 series Rahem, starring Yasser Galal.
More action from Ahmed El Sakka
Ramadan is not the only actor busy on set.
With the holy month to begin around Monday, April 12, another high-profile production already under way is Naseel Al-Aghrab led by Ahmed El Sakka.
And judging by the latest Instagram posts from director Mohamed Sami, the Egyptian television and film star will live up to his "action man" image, with a snap of El Sakka riding carefree on a horse.
The series has a supporting cast led by Amir Karara (who starred last year in Al Ikhtiyar), Mai Omar and veteran actress Firdous Mohammed.
With the full plot details yet to revealed, so far, we know the suspense series revolves around the tumultuous relationship between El Sakka and Karara's characters.
Nadine Nassib Njeim returns to the small screen
Another series in the works is the Lebanese drama Salon Zizi.
With filming beginning at the start of the year, the series marks the anticipated return of Nadine Nassib Njeim, the Lebanese-Tunisian actress and model who was severely injured in the Beirut port explosion last August.
According to entertainment website ET Bil Arabi, the new series will comprise 15 episodes and will be produced by Sadiq Al Sabah, who has worked with Njeim on Khamsa w Nos (2019) and 2017's Al Hayba.

What are NFTs?
Are non-fungible tokens a currency, asset, or a licensing instrument? Arnab Das, global market strategist EMEA at Invesco, says they are mix of all of three.
You can buy, hold and use NFTs just like US dollars and Bitcoins. “They can appreciate in value and even produce cash flows.”
However, while money is fungible, NFTs are not. “One Bitcoin, dollar, euro or dirham is largely indistinguishable from the next. Nothing ties a dollar bill to a particular owner, for example. Nor does it tie you to to any goods, services or assets you bought with that currency. In contrast, NFTs confer specific ownership,” Mr Das says.
This makes NFTs closer to a piece of intellectual property such as a work of art or licence, as you can claim royalties or profit by exchanging it at a higher value later, Mr Das says. “They could provide a sustainable income stream.”
This income will depend on future demand and use, which makes NFTs difficult to value. “However, there is a credible use case for many forms of intellectual property, notably art, songs, videos,” Mr Das says.
