Tina Turner: Tina!

By the time Tina Turner hung up her heels in 2000 after a 40-year career, her legendary pins had clocked up a fair few stage miles. At 60, she could claim album sales in the hundreds of millions, not to mention the highest ticket sales on record for a solo artist. But in 2008, a glimpse of life as a septuagenarian (plus a chat from her friend Oprah, apparently) was all it took for her to shake out her lion's mane once more and grab the mike for a 50th anniversary comeback tour. Tina!, released to support the tour, is enough to make you want to go and see her all over again. The collection of greatest hits and rare live recordings (plus two previously unreleased tracks) follows her career (in no particular order), from its roots as part of the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, to her solo rock hits of the Eighties and Nineties. River Deep-Mountain High and Nutbush City Limits were both ground-breaking hits of the 1960s and Seventies, while the power ballads We Don't Need Another Hero and Private Dancer have since become synonymous with her defiant, rock persona. But it is Turner's raw, hopeful voice that really defines her, and few are the people who haven't screamed "you're simply the best" into their hairbrushes at some point. Ignore the newer tracks (It Would be a Crime and I'm Ready), which add nothing to a consistent run of hits and Tina! shows why Turner still has plenty more stages to stomp before she's done with us.

Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
