Shah Rukh Khan will take the stage at a private event on April 15 in the capital, the day before the Indian Premier League tournament begins in the UAE.
Radio Mirchi tweeted the news this morning with an image of the Bollywood star: "BREAKING NEWS!!!! @iamsrk to perform at #IPL opening ceremony on April 15 in Abu Dhabi. How excited are you?"
Khan and the actress Juhi Chawla co-own the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), one of the eight teams participating in the tournament. The first phase of the IPL is being hosted by the UAE, with two weeks of matches being played out in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
The first match is on April 16 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium at 6.30pm, featuring the defending champions Mumbai Indians and Khan’s KKR.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
