She's attended plenty of music ceremonies in her time, but Wednesday night's NME Awards were "the craziest" Taylor Swift has ever been to. The American singer made a surprise appearance at the bash in London's O2 Academy Brixton, accepting a trophy for Best Solo Act in the World on stage. The You Need to Calm Down star, who wore a pinstriped ensemble by Monse for the occasion, told the crowd she was honoured to have a matching set, having won Best International Solo Artist in 2016. Scroll through the gallery above to see the red carpet arrivals at the NME Awards 2020. “This is my first time at the NME Awards, and like, I just feel like everyone here is so shy, so reserved," the 30-year-old said in her acceptance speech. "Are you guys having any fun tonight? Are you going to come out of your shells at all? Oh, wait no. This is like the craziest award show I’ve ever been to.” The night had earlier taken a turn as UK rapper Slowthai threw a glass and microphone into the audience while on stage to accept his Hero Of The Year award. The British musician, who appeared to have been angered by a heckler's comment, was subsequently restrained by security.
