Palestinian pop star Mohamed Assaf and Sudanese folk singer Omer Elamin are the next round of artists to perform free online shows for the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi.

With both gigs set to be streamed on the organisation's YouTube page, Assaf will take the stage on Wednesday, December 16, while Elamin plays on Wednesday, December 23. Both shows will be streamed from 9pm.

The concerts continue the Culture Foundation’s streamed performance series, which have seen an eclectic list of acts play over the last eight months.

The list includes Bahraini rock group Majaz, Somali rapper Freek, South Korean comedian Wonho Chung and Moroccan American RnB singer Faouzia.

It will be a return performance for Assaf, who previously played an online concert for the foundation in August. However, much has transpired for the former Arab Idol winner since then, most of it away from the stage.

That same month, Assaf announced he secretly wedded fellow Palestinian Reem Ouda. The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony, reportedly in Dubai, which was attended by immediate family and friends.

With the pandemic halting planned European and North American tours this year, Assaf's upcoming concert is one of a small handful of his live shows this year. He also played a well-received Dubai Opera show in late August.

For Elamin, his upcoming gig is the latest step in a five-year journey to becoming a fully fledged musician.

Dividing his time between Dubai and the Sudanese capital Khartoum, he built a steady body of work releasing soulful Sudanese folk songs.

Anchored by a smooth croon, his show promises to be as entertaining as it is revelatory.
