Justin Bieber, 26, will make his return to the stage for New Year's Eve.
Three years since his Purpose world tour, the Canadian pop star has announced a concert live stream on December 31. The show will stream online on at 10.15pm EST (or Friday, January 1 at 7.15am in the UAE).
Don't expect a no-frill intimate show though, as Bieber is marking the occasion with a lavishly shot gig featuring a five-piece band, dancers, cutting-edge edge lighting and purpose-built stage in a famed location yet to be revealed.
The singer has already posted pictures from rehearsals that show him working with his dancers on a zig-zag shaped stage. The show will air again twice the following day at 5am and 3pm eastern time. Tickets for the show are available until Friday, January 1 from Dh104 at www.JustinBieberNYE.com.
As for the tunes on offer, the concert will be the first time Bieber will present his latest album Changes in a concert setting. Released in February, for his fifth album, he ditched the electro vibes of previous album Purpose for a more streamlined RnB and pop sound. While the critical reception was lukewarm, the album produced hits Yummy and Forever.
Bieber's New Year's Eve gig will be the first taste of his upcoming North American tour. Initially halted due to the pandemic, the 45-show run is now slated to begin in San Diego on Wednesday, June 2.
What has Justin Bieber been doing?
The relative time away from the limelight has done the Lonely singer good. After reportedly experiencing burn out on the back of the Purpose world tour, Bieber announced a career break in 2019 to address "deep-rooted issues" within himself. The move also came on the back of his marriage to model Hailey Baldwin the previous year.
With the exception of recording songs that would make up Changes and the song I Don't Care, his second collaboration with Ed Sheeran, Bieber spent the time away content in his relationship. Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this month, he spoke of his desire to become a father eventually.
"I’d love to have myself a little tribe," he said. "I think Hailey still has some things she wants to accomplish as a woman. And I think she just is not ready yet, and I think that’s okay.”

Day 5, Abu Dhabi Test: At a glance
Moment of the day When Dilruwan Perera dismissed Yasir Shah to end Pakistan’s limp resistance, the Sri Lankans charged around the field with the fevered delirium of a side not used to winning. Trouble was, they had not. The delivery was deemed a no ball. Sri Lanka had a nervy wait, but it was merely a stay of execution for the beleaguered hosts.
Stat of the day – 5 Pakistan have lost all 10 wickets on the fifth day of a Test five times since the start of 2016. It is an alarming departure for a side who had apparently erased regular collapses from their resume. “The only thing I can say, it’s not a mitigating excuse at all, but that’s a young batting line up, obviously trying to find their way,” said Mickey Arthur, Pakistan’s coach.
The verdict Test matches in the UAE are known for speeding up on the last two days, but this was extreme. The first two innings of this Test took 11 sessions to complete. The remaining two were done in less than four. The nature of Pakistan’s capitulation at the end showed just how difficult the transition is going to be in the post Misbah-ul-Haq era.

Sinopharm vaccine explained
The Sinopharm vaccine was created using techniques that have been around for decades.
“This is an inactivated vaccine. Simply what it means is that the virus is taken, cultured and inactivated," said Dr Nawal Al Kaabi, chair of the UAE's National Covid-19 Clinical Management Committee.
"What is left is a skeleton of the virus so it looks like a virus, but it is not live."
This is then injected into the body.
"The body will recognise it and form antibodies but because it is inactive, we will need more than one dose. The body will not develop immunity with one dose," she said.
"You have to be exposed more than one time to what we call the antigen."
The vaccine should offer protection for at least months, but no one knows how long beyond that.
Dr Al Kaabi said early vaccine volunteers in China were given shots last spring and still have antibodies today.
“Since it is inactivated, it will not last forever," she said.
