Dr Dre has assured fans he is "doing great" after confirming he has been admitted to hospital in Los Angeles.
The rapper and producer, 55, did not address the cause of his health issues in a statement, but media reports suggested the musician had suffered a brain aneurysm.
"Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes," Dr Dre, born Andre Romelle Young, said in a message issued by his management.
"I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One love!"
The Los Angeles Times, citing sources familiar with Dr Dre's condition, had earlier reported he was stable after undergoing treatment for a possible brain aneurysm on Tuesday.
The star is considered among hip-hop's most influential figures, having risen to commercial fame with the groundbreaking rap pioneers NWA before crafting the quintessentially West Coast G-Funk sound.
The master behind the careers of greats, including Snoop Dogg and Eminem, is also known for co-founding Beats Electronics, an audio products company purchased by Apple in 2014.
News of Dre's hospital admission triggered an outpouring of well-wishes on social media from his rap peers.
"Send your love and prayers to the homie Dr Dre," tweeted Ice Cube, while Snoop Dogg posted on Instagram: "Get well Dr Dre, we need you cuz."
"Prayers up for Dr Dre and his family for healing and strength over his mind and body," tweeted Missy Elliot.
His admission to the hospital comes amid a mushrooming Covid-19 crisis in the Los Angeles area, as well as Dre's high-profile divorce proceedings from Nicole Young.
