RedFestDXB will not be taking place in 2021.
The Dubai music festival, which has been held annually since it launched in 2014, was forced to postpone until 2022 in light of coronavirus-related challenges.
Fans had already begun to suspect there would be no 2021 iteration of the event as the festival traditionally would have taken place in mid-February.
“We are gutted,” organisers wrote on the festival’s Instagram page. “We want to protect fans and ensure that we have the full RedFest party experience when it returns next year.”
Organisers did not reveal whether they had a proposed artist list for 2021, nor if the line-up would be postponed to the following year.
Organised by Virgin Radio, the festival, which takes place at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, has hosted more than 50 global artists and local musicians.
In its seven-year history, it has welcomed some of the world’s leading pop artists including US singer Kesha, Irish rock band The Script, Jamaican rapper Sean Paul and US girl group Fifth Harmony,
In 2020, the two-day festival had an eclectic line-up that included superstar Dutch DJ Martin Garrix, American rapper Young Thug, English pop band Bastille, UK singer Becky Hill and British rapper Stormzy.
