It’s been a quiet year for live music because of the pandemic, but 2020 is set to end on a musical high note.
Clean Bandit and Anne-Marie will perform on Friday, December 18, at Burj Park, in Downtown Dubai, as part of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). Tickets for the show, which cost Dh50, are now on sale.
The two artists previously collaborated on the hit song Rockabye (which also featured Sean Paul), but are also known for other tracks, too. British singer Anne-Marie is known for 2002, Friends and her collaboration Rewrite the Stars (from The Greatest Showman) with James Arthur.
British electronic group Clean Bandit, meanwhile, have worked with artists including Jess Glynne on Rather Be and Zara Larsson on Symphony.
Other performances announced for DSF include DJ Alan Walker at Coca-Cola Arena on Thursday, January 7, British comedian Jack Whitehall on Thursday, January 14, and Pakistani singer Atif Aslam on Friday, January 15.
The 26th Dubai Shopping Festival runs from Thursday, December 17, to Saturday, January 30. The six-week event will feature live concerts, markets, art installations and stage shows, as well as sales, promotions and competitions.
Highlights will include the opening weekend, which promises "an amazing line-up of events including concerts by world-famous music stars, stunning light and fireworks shows".
As the festival takes place over New Year's Eve, it is expected there will be celebrations to mark the new year.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves set markets on edge as she appeared visibly distraught in parliament on Wednesday.
Legislative setbacks for the government have blown a new hole in the budgetary calculations at a time when the deficit is stubbornly large and the economy is struggling to grow.

Pharaoh's curse
British aristocrat Lord Carnarvon, who funded the expedition to find the Tutankhamun tomb, died in a Cairo hotel four months after the crypt was opened.
He had been in poor health for many years after a car crash, and a mosquito bite made worse by a shaving cut led to blood poisoning and pneumonia.
Reports at the time said Lord Carnarvon suffered from “pain as the inflammation affected the nasal passages and eyes”.
Decades later, scientists contended he had died of aspergillosis after inhaling spores of the fungus aspergillus in the tomb, which can lie dormant for months. The fact several others who entered were also found dead withiin a short time led to the myth of the curse.
