Abu Dhabi Classics is home to a bevy of performances that will not only showcase the next generation of classical musical talent, but also host a debut international performance by a historic institution. Here are the upcoming shows to look forward to.

November 9: La Scala Academy Rising Stars at Emirates Palace

Milan's Accademia Teatro Alla Scala is one of the most renowned performance schools in the world. It is home to handpicked students undergoing rigorous training in various fields, ranging from music and dance to stagecraft. We will have the chance to experience the institution's excellence when a ballet troupe from the academy hit the Emirates Palace stage to perform select pieces from famous productions including La Bayadere, Erik Satie's Gymnopedie and August Bournonville's Napoli. Tickets cost from Dh50.

December 6 and 7: Xavier de Maistre at Manarat Al Saadiyat and Bin Hamoodah Fort, Al Ain

For his UAE debut, French Harpist Xavier de Maistre will perform a varied programme of recitals that will include classical works by legendary Spanish composers Isaac Albeniz, Enrique Granados and Manuel de Falla. This show takes place at Manarat Al Saadiyat on December 6. The following night will be dedicated to composers from De Maistre’s homeland, with pieces by Claude Debussy and Gabriel Faure featuring. Tickets cost from Dh50.

January 30 and February 1: The Valkyrie by Bayreuth Festival

The world-renowned Bayreuth Festival is bringing Richard Wagner’s The Valkyrie to Abu Dhabi. It will be a family affair as the opera is directed by Katharina Wagner, the composer’s greatgranddaughter. With tickets to Bayreuth Festival productions in Germany notoriously hard to get – there is annual demand from  more than 500,000 people for the 60,000 tickets available – the chance to see them perform in the capital is one you shouldn’t miss. Tickets cost from Dh200.

April 19: Ran Jia at Manarat Al Saadiyat

Chinese solo pianist Ran Jia is a star on the rise. Since her last performance in the capital, in November 2015, Jia has gone on to bigger international engagements, showcasing her extraordinary interpretation of works by Franz Shubert. In her Abu Dhabi Classics show, she will be performing Schubert’s Sonata in D Major D850 and Sonata in B Flat Major. Tickets cost from Dh50.

All tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.ae
