Abdallah Al Rowaished and Iraq's Waleed Al Shami are the next big Arab pop acts performing online.

The Kuwaiti crooner and Iraqi singer, respectively, headline two of three new concerts announced by broadcaster MBC’s digital platform Shahid - all shows will be streamed under the subscriber tier, Shahid VIP.

The upcoming concerts continue a successful series of virtual gigs on Shahid, in which artists perform in an intimate setting without a physical audience in attendance.

Other acts who have performed online over the past month include Lebanon’s Elissa and Najwa Karam, as well as Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Abdo.

Here are the new shows coming your way. Concert times will be announced soon on the Shahid website.

Thursday, June 25: Waleed Al Shami and Aseel Abu Bakr

Waleed Al Shami has really taken to the online format, delivering a number of online gigs over the last two months showcasing his brand of upbeat brand of Levantine pop numbers. The show will feature new tunes Baadeen way Jamalk and Al Zujaj.

Meanwhile, Aseel Abu Bakr is a veteran of the Gulf pop scene, having dropped songs and albums since the late 1980s. In addition to his smooth tenor, Abu Bakr is also an accomplished composer and has collaborated with the likes of stars Abdul Majeed Abdullah and Diana Haddad.

Thursday, July 2: Abdallah Al Rowaished

The Kuwaiti crooner has no time for a supporting act, as he has a hefty thirty-year catalogue of tunes to play with. One of the more accessible artists in the Khaleeji music canon, his tracks are often up-tempo, full of groove and catchy choruses.

Thursday, July 9: Khalid Abdul Rahman

The singer and poet has been blending both elements in his music since 1981. Tracks like Tedhkar (translated to Souvenir) and Sadiqni (Believe Me) are characterised by evocative lyricism and stirring instrumentation.
