DJs Axwell and R3hab will headline the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix After-Race Concerts in Jeddah. Both artists will take the decks at the main stage of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit for separate sets on March 26 and 27. The concerts are free for Formula One ticket holders.
The news should go down as a treat for Saudi fans with Axwell and R3hab previously performing to large crowds in the kingdom. In December, both acts played to more than 150,000 people as part of the mammoth Soundstorm festival in Riyadh.
For Axwell, real name Axel Hedfors, it was his first performance in Saudi Arabia and served as a worthy follow up to one of the biggest years in his career. In January, the Swede was part of pop music’s biggest albums, Dawn FM by The Weeknd, having co-produced and written the tracks Sacrifice and How Do I Make You Love Me.
This was followed up by this month's announcement that his celebrated group Swedish House Mafia will release the debut album Paradise Again on April 15 and undertake a European arena tour in October.
As for R3hab, real name Fadil El Ghoul, the Moroccan-Dutch artist is a regular performer in the kingdom with shows in Jeddah and Riyadh.
In an interview with The National, he counted his 2019 performance at Riyadh's MDL Beast festival (now known as Soundstorm) alongside Egyptian popstar Amr Diab as a career highlight.
"It was funny. My mother usually doesn't watch my shows, but this one she really wanted to see because I was there with Diab," he said. “It is always great when your family is interested in what you do, but when you do something that resonates with their culture, that just makes it extra special.”
R3hab will arrive with a swag of recently released tracks including Most People, a collaboration with Danish band Lukas Graham and his remix of Fireboy DML and Ed Sheeran's hit Peru.
The Saudi Arabia Grand Prix runs from March 25 to 27 at Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Tickets start from 124 Saudi riyals ($33) and are available at Saudiarabiangp.com
