Netflix's The White Tiger is on track to be watched by 27 million households in its first four weeks since release, Priyanka Chopra Jonas has said in a post shared on Instagram.
In the weeks since its January 13 release, the film has ranked at No 1 on the streaming service's most watched chart in 64 countries around the world. It is currently sitting at No 10 in the UAE, but peaked with a position in the top spot.
"It's so emotional for me to see the discovery and acceptance of this brilliant incredible story," the Indian actress wrote on Instagram. "The White Tiger being embraced by audiences all over the world is awe inspiring. Congrats and thank you to Aravind, Ramin, Adarsh, Raj, Mukul, Ava and everyone involved. Thank you Netflix for giving our little movie wings."
The film is an adaption of Arvind Adiga's 2008 book of the same name. The novel won the 40th Man Booker Prize in the year of its release.
The film stars Chopra Jonas as Pinky, as well as Adarsh Gourav in his first leading role and Rajkummar Rao. Gourav plays Balram, a man who escapes a life of poverty to become a servant and chauffeur to a wealthy family, including a married couple played Rao and Chopra Jonas.
"He's just phenomenal," White Tiger director Ramin Bahrani told Sky of Gourav. "I was fortunate to find a great leading actor in Adarsh, who was able to … he brings a smile to your face because he's so charming, but also has the other side of him."
Priyanka Chopra, who also served as one of the film's executive producers, along with Prem Akkaraju, Ava DuVernay and Ken Kamins.
