Leading film school to open its first overseas campus in Dubai this month

A prestigious international film school is opening a campus in Dubai this month.

Raindance Film School Dubai will offer training and qualifications in filmmaking, post-production, visual effects and the performing arts.

It will also have hands-on short courses in screenwriting, directing, producing and post-production.

Although Raindance operates in many major global centres, this will be the institute's first campus outside London.

The academy has helped to launch the careers of some of the biggest names in the industry, including Christopher Nolan, Edgar Wright and Guy Ritchie.

The new film school in Jumeirah 1 is a short distance from the beachfront and has stunning views of the Dubai skyline from the rooftop terrace.

Students at Raindance Film School Dubai will be able to take part in flexible undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The curriculum will provide industry-led education to the region through courses to equip students with the skills necessary for professional filmmaking.

Students will also have the opportunity to collaborate on projects with their peers at the London campus.

They will have access to studio-grade production facilities, and free use of all equipment to shoot their projects.

Students also gain membership to Raindance’s global network of film centres, and will have the opportunity to see their final projects screened at the HND Showcase during the Raindance Film Festival in London.

“We’re excited to welcome applications from students in the region looking for the opportunity to gain higher education in filmmaking and screen acting, previously unavailable at this scale,” said Amani Choudhry, chief executive of Raindance Film School Dubai.

“The Middle East has some of the brightest emerging talent in film and performing arts, and our role will be to provide the skills and experience needed to break into and become leaders in the industry.”

Raindance has pioneered film training and delivered one of the most successful independent film festivals in Europe since 1992.

Applications are now open, with more information and course outlines available through the Raindance website or by emailing dubai@raindance.org.
