London's Leicester Square now has a tribute to JK Rowling's beloved character, Harry Potter.
The bronze statue depicts the boy wizard hovering on his broom, the Nimbus 2000, about to launch into a game of quidditch. It is a likeness of Daniel Radcliffe's character in the first movie in the series of eight, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
The new statue is a part of a Scenes in the Square trail, which also includes statues of Paddington Bear, Mary Poppins and Mr Bean.
It is expected that the statue will remain in Leicester Square, as part of the trail, until at least July 2023.
Leicester Square is where many of the UK's film premieres take place, a space in the heart of the British capital that has a number of cinemas, including an Odeon, Vue and Cineworld.
The unveiling of the statue marks the beginning of London's Inside Out Festival, which is bringing cultural activities to the city from Thursday, October 1.
Tearful appearance
