As George Washington sings in the hit Broadway musical, "History has its eyes on you" – and the history books also have their eyes on Hamilton.
Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical, which tells the story of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, left all other rivals in the dust when it comes to audience numbers.
The filmed version of the stage show landed on Disney's streaming platform, Disney+, on June 3, and on OSN in the UAE on June 4.
In the month since, the hip-hop-inspired production has racked up three times more viewers than the most-watched show on streaming rival Netflix, according to newly released figures.
Audience research compiled by 7Data showed that 37.1 per cent of survey respondents watched Hamilton last month, compared to the second widest-reaching show on Netflix, true crime documentary series Unsolved Mysteries, which 13.7 per cent of respondents had watched.
The data, provided to Variety, was sourced from 15,000 to 25,000 US households who watched streaming services on their TV, not mobiles.
The 7Data research took into account production streaming across Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+ and Apple TV+, with Charlize Theron-starring action film The Old Guard coming out as the third-most-watched film, with a viewership of 10.6 per cent.
Hamilton also trumped June's most-watched show according to 7Data figures, which found that Steve Carell-front series Space Force was the most popular production of that month, with 8.3 per cent of respondents having watched it.
Disney typically doesn't disclose numbers from its streaming service, meaning it's near impossible to know how many people actually watched Hamilton. However, the 7Data study does give an indication of its successful in relation to other titles.
Previous data also shows that app downloads for Disney+ in the US were up 74 per cent over the weekend of Hamilton's release, Variety reports.
The musical, created by actor, composer and singer Miranda, also stars Daveed Diggs, Leslie Odom Jr and Elise Renee Goldsberry.
Largely inspired by Ron Chernow's 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton, the Tony Award-winning musical charts the politician's arrival in New York in 1776 until his untimely death in 1804.
Hamilton, who was orphaned after being born out of wedlock in the Caribbean, went on to become the first Secretary of the Treasury, the right-hand man of the first US president George Washington, and was widely credited with helping ratify the US Constitution.

The more serious side of specialty coffee
While the taste of beans and freshness of roast is paramount to the specialty coffee scene, so is sustainability and workers’ rights.
The bulk of genuine specialty coffee companies aim to improve on these elements in every stage of production via direct relationships with farmers. For instance, Mokha 1450 on Al Wasl Road strives to work predominantly with women-owned and -operated coffee organisations, including female farmers in the Sabree mountains of Yemen.
Because, as the boutique’s owner, Garfield Kerr, points out: “women represent over 90 per cent of the coffee value chain, but are woefully underrepresented in less than 10 per cent of ownership and management throughout the global coffee industry.”
One of the UAE’s largest suppliers of green (meaning not-yet-roasted) beans, Raw Coffee, is a founding member of the Partnership of Gender Equity, which aims to empower female coffee farmers and harvesters.
Also, globally, many companies have found the perfect way to recycle old coffee grounds: they create the perfect fertile soil in which to grow mushrooms.
