In January, it was announced that Mena Massoud would be starring in his first Egyptian feature and now the Aladdin star has revealed the film's first poster.
"Check out the teaser poster for In Broad Daylight. It's been a dream of mine to head back to Egypt and act with some of the most talented artists in the world. Honoured to be a part of this," he captioned his post while sharing the English and Arabic versions.
Fe Ez El-Dohr, which translates to In Broad Daylight, is directed by Morcus Adel. Massoud portrays Hamza, an international criminal who lives abroad but returns to Egypt to carry out some tasks in the country.
He will star opposite Egyptian actress Myrna Noureldin. A release date for the film has yet to be announced.
In January, he shared a photo of himself at the Giza Pyramids, which he called breathtaking.
“One from my bucket list! I’ve been to the pyramids at Giza a few times now, but I’ve always wanted to go back and ride a horse through the desert with the wind at my back and the pyramids on the horizon,” he told his 2.4 million followers.
“I got to do just that and man – it was breathtaking! The energy in Egypt is just incredible.”
In 2019, he spoke to The National about his desire to work on regional film projects and hoped the success of Aladdin, which was shot in Jordan, would result in more authentic films about the Arab world.
"It has been a while since we've told stories like Lawrence of Arabia and cast them and told them appropriately. So I hope people look at Aladdin and realise that there's a plethora of rich stories that come out of the Middle East," he said.
“That is certainly something that I'm going to be focusing on in my career with my production company. I think that [things] are going to change.”
