Attending literary talks and browsing the 80,000 titles on display at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) will be hungry work. So it’s a good thing that there is such an extensive programme scheduled at the Cookery Corner.
Featuring demonstrations, workshops and talks by top chefs from around the world, including Australia, India, Japan, Lebanon and the United Kingdom, the Cookery Corner is home to more than 60 events and should be hotter than a jalapeno. Morocco's Hassan M'Souli, pictured, author of popular cookbooks Moroccan Modern and Make It Moroccan, will be showing the audience how to pack flavour into his traditional Moroccan dishes, each of which is updated with a modern twist. He is appearing four times at SIBF, so there's no excuse not to catch him. If you're after something a little more sugary, try Badya Khaireldein's cookie-making classes. Each one is less than an hour long and you'll come away with the skills to wow your sweet-toothed family and friends.
Other highlights include a session with Yasmine Nazmy, the French-Egyptian chef who founded Egypt's first vegan restaurant, and a workshop with Shipra Khanna, who won season two of Masterchef India. Khanna will reveal the secrets behind her signature recipes, such as chicken tikka dum biryani. Japan is the guest of honour this year and will be represented by Hiroto Akama, a member of the All Japan Chefs Association.

What is Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is the most popular virtual currency in the world. It was created in 2009 as a new way of paying for things that would not be subject to central banks that are capable of devaluing currency. A Bitcoin itself is essentially a line of computer code. It's signed digitally when it goes from one owner to another. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are tokens that represent ownership of unique items. They allow the tokenisation of things such as art, collectibles and even real estate.
An NFT can have only one official owner at one time. And since they're minted and secured on the Ethereum blockchain, no one can modify the record of ownership, not even copy-paste it into a new one.
This means NFTs are not interchangeable and cannot be exchanged with other items. In contrast, fungible items, such as fiat currencies, can be exchanged because their value defines them rather than their unique properties.
