A new exhibition on show at Dubai's digital art centre Infinity des Lumieres, is paying a tribute to the UAE's recent achievements in space exploration. Destination Cosmos: The Ultimate Challenge immerses visitors into the vastness of the universe, with digital displays of planets, stars, spacecraft, astronauts and galaxies.
The show was curated in partnership with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre and the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES).
Composed of 13 sequences and a prologue, the display features an abundance of stars, planets, nebulae and supernovae for visitors, with images from CNES and Nasa set to an eclectic music soundtrack. On Thursday's opening night visitors were treated to music by a live chamber orchestra.
The cosmic journey begins at the CNES tracking station, in the heart of the Guyanese rainforest, before skyrocketing visitors through the universe, touching down on the canyons of Mars. Footage floats alongside powerful rovers, soars past Jupiter and the rings of Saturn, before crossing the borders of our solar system to explore the vastness of the universe.
The Van Gogh, Dreamed Japan and Verse exhibitions are also still running.
Infinity des Lumieres is located in The Dubai Mall, the main entrance is in front of Galeries Lafayette. The experiences last about one hour and 15 minutes and new shows start every 30 minutes.
Spread over 2,700 square metres, the venue has more than 130 projectors, 58 speakers and 3,000 HD digital images working together to create moving artworks.
