Here are four things to check out on the UAE's art scene this weekend.

From the closing of a retrospective of an influential artist at Sharjah Art Foundation, to a number of group exhibitions showing off emerging talents at 421 Art Campus and Manarat Al Saadiyat, there's plenty to see and do. Louvre Abu Dhabi has something special planned for World Photography Day.

World Photography Day is on Monday and Louvre Abu Dhabi is marking it by giving visitors free access on Saturday and Sunday to enjoy the museum’s galleries. Visitors are also invited to photograph art works, post them on social media and tag the museum for the chance to be featured on Louvre Abu Dhabi’s Instagram page.

In Context: The Spectrum Group exhibition at Manarat Al Saadiyat

The second edition of the Spectrum Residency will have on display the works of eight artists who took part in the year-long programme. Under the guidance of mentor and curator Nasser Al Maazmi, the eight artists who come from the UAE, Canada, Philippines and Palestine, spent the year delving into the concept of culture and its impact on perspectives. The exhibition includes immersive art installations, a short film, photography, mixed media and more.

This is one of the last weekends you can catch the solo exhibition of Saudi abstract painter Nasser Almulhim. Inspired by the theories of renowned Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist Carl Jung, Almulhim uses the painting medium to explore facets of the human psyche in In-Between. His large-scale paintings, full of bold and expressive colours, serve as a means of healing contributing to his spiritual and artistic growth.

2024 MFA Graduate Show at 421 Arts Campus

This is the third year of collaboration between 421 Arts Campus and NYUAD. On a Timeline is a showcase of the research, experimentation and work of the 2024 MFA cohort at NYUAD as they explore the contemporary global condition. The exhibition features projects by five art graduates who have created works across mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, installation and mixed media.
