There are 31 days left before Expo 2020 Dubai comes to an end on March 31.

In the five months it has run so far, since it opened to the public on October 1, a whole host of famous faces have walked through the exceptional entrance gates.

Some visited to perform, while others came for diplomatic purposes and more simply arrived to admire.

This is what some of those most notable guests have had to say about the "world's greatest show".

Jean Paul Gaultier

The famous fashion designer visited Dubai for the first time this week for the opening of an exhibition of his work at the France Pavilion.

"It's truly an honour to be here, to be part of this universal exhibition," Gaultier told The National. "With all the stands, to be part of the one from France is an honour for me. And to be in Dubai — can you imagine, I have never been in Dubai before!

"I was missing something, so I am enjoying discovering it — I love it, I love it, I love it. This is the first but not the last time, I think its fantastic.

"It feels like a new world, the architecture is absolutely incredible, not only of Expo but the city also."

“The progress achieved by the UAE on the basis of the leadership and vision of the late Sheikh Zayed is truly commendable.

“One of the works that reflects the exemplary breakthrough of the Emirates is undoubtedly the Expo in Dubai. I also find the theme of Expo — connecting minds, creating the future — as extremely meaningful. We should think about a brighter future together, act together and unite on common ground to achieve it.”

Ranbir Kapoor

The Bollywood star made an appearance at the India Pavilion in February and took a souvenir photo of himself in front of the giant water feature.

“Mumbai is a lot like the Expo,” he told the audience as part of a talk he gave. "There are so many different cultures and people who have come together in the city … I have been to India and the UAE Pavilions, it was awesome. It’s so incredible to be in a place like this."

It is a vision that is shared by the UK, too, as demonstrated by our two countries’ strong and enduring links.”

German plea
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the German parliament that. Russia had erected a new wall across Europe.

"It's not a Berlin Wall -- it is a Wall in central Europe between freedom and bondage and this Wall is growing bigger with every bomb" dropped on Ukraine, Zelenskyy told MPs.

Mr Zelenskyy was applauded by MPs in the Bundestag as he addressed Chancellor Olaf Scholz directly.

"Dear Mr Scholz, tear down this Wall," he said, evoking US President Ronald Reagan's 1987 appeal to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate.

FFP EXPLAINED

What is Financial Fair Play?
Introduced in 2011 by Uefa, European football’s governing body, it demands that clubs live within their means. Chiefly, spend within their income and not make substantial losses.

What the rules dictate?
The second phase of its implementation limits losses to €30 million (Dh136m) over three seasons. Extra expenditure is permitted for investment in sustainable areas (youth academies, stadium development, etc). Money provided by owners is not viewed as income. Revenue from “related parties” to those owners is assessed by Uefa's “financial control body” to be sure it is a fair value, or in line with market prices.

What are the penalties?
There are a number of punishments, including fines, a loss of prize money or having to reduce squad size for European competition – as happened to PSG in 2014. There is even the threat of a competition ban, which could in theory lead to PSG’s suspension from the Uefa Champions League.

What is a robo-adviser?

Robo-advisers use an online sign-up process to gauge an investor’s risk tolerance by feeding information such as their age, income, saving goals and investment history into an algorithm, which then assigns them an investment portfolio, ranging from more conservative to higher risk ones.

These portfolios are made up of exchange traded funds (ETFs) with exposure to indices such as US and global equities, fixed-income products like bonds, though exposure to real estate, commodity ETFs or gold is also possible.

Investing in ETFs allows robo-advisers to offer fees far lower than traditional investments, such as actively managed mutual funds bought through a bank or broker. Investors can buy ETFs directly via a brokerage, but with robo-advisers they benefit from investment portfolios matched to their risk tolerance as well as being user friendly.

Many robo-advisers charge what are called wrap fees, meaning there are no additional fees such as subscription or withdrawal fees, success fees or fees for rebalancing.

Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
